Girls!

Today i wanted to share with you the Women of my life.
And i do have a lot of them!

I was partly brought up by my granny who is the most amazing woman.
She is the Mother, you know the one who knows you by heart and is always here for you even if you make (LOTS) of mistakes. Never judging you.
Of course i have my mum, who is the most free spirited woman i know.
I mean she does what she wants and i respect her for that. A lot.
And i have my amazing aunts! They are so different and yet so similar. They are the ones who always fought for their dreams, who are always the sweetest and smartest women you can rely on!
One of my aunts, Isabelle.

So we are a "women" family.
I always spend Christmas at my granny's place with my mother and my aunt Isabelle, and we talk about how it is to be a woman, the things we wish, memories... and we take care of each other.
And i actually never realized how lucky i was to be surrounded by those strong spirited girls!
We are a gals family because we are free.
We never depended on lovers, even though we all have someone in our lives.
"I can't be the woman of your life because i'm the one of mine"

I guess for me it was always easier to be a woman, in a way that i was not feeling stupid, that i could express myself and that i was not taught to be just one thing!

In my life i also have Virginie, my best friend.
You know this girl that you chose because when you met her you realized how lucky you were to find her!!
She is not family, you cannot take her for granted and yet, even at the lowest point in your life she is here and she loves you and you thank the moon for sending this wonderful girl to you!
Virginie is like a cup full of sunshine, godzilla and glitters.

She is so spirited and full of ideas, i mean i'd follow her anywhere.

And this is why i feel so grateful for the women in my life.
They are a constant inspiration, they are helping me to become the woman that i want to be.

So here is to all the wonderful gals in our lives!

Oh and Dad i love you too, you know that ;)

It's all about Vintage

I'm a Vintage girl all the way.
I had this amazing chance to be brought up partly by my granny who has this amazing flat full of antics that my aunt and grandpa used to collect for her.
And i have an amazing family house in Aveyron* where my aunt and great aunt** would leave their old clothes. I would find them and ask my granny to cut them up and sew them so they would be of my taste.
I was brought up around old things and clothes was just always fun to me! Of course i would buy new clothes too but i always had something for oldies.

Here are some of my favorite vintage right now:
60's basket

my Mexican dress

Vintage blue Levis

handmade blouse

For me vintage became a sort of revolution.
I mean, i would go to all those fast fashion brands and find things but i would never really be satisfied with it.
I'm a real thrifter.
I buy clothes in second hand shops (something i learned back in England) and vintage stores. I always find great treasures! If you could only see the amount of vintage clothes that are just waiting in warehouses you'd be amazed and quite scared ;)
So it is kind of my little battle to try not to buy brand new clothes! Well to be honest i don't always win, but most of the time i'm happy with myslef ;)

*weirdly Aveyron became quite trendy, which is crazy for us. I mean it is gorgeous and wild but so far from everything!
** i'll write about them someday, they are amazing women!

Have a magical day!

Pamela Love

with Pamela Love

From my instagram

Pamela is probably one of the most inspiring person i've ever met.
I actually discovered her jewelry about 3 years ago on the internet (oh the wonder!) and fell in love with her way of seeing jewelry as a part of a cosmic powerful thing. Her pieces are handmade in her atelier in New York and it is full of good vibes and beauty!
She wrote a book about it, full of really inspiring images, muses and words of wisdom.
I had the chance to see her for her book signing in Paris and you can tell by my smile it was oh so amazing!
Collecting her jewelry is one of my pleasure, and the symbolism behind them is always beautiful.
She is also a great muse when it comes to style, with her tattoos full of meanings (she has so many arrows!) and her boyish style!

Her book: "Muses & Manifestations" by Rizzoli New York

Something funny about jewelry is that i was never into it until i found Pamela's magical work. For me jewelry was a symbol of belonging to someone that i disliked. I'm not the kind of person you own i guess, if you could ever own someone...!
So i never thought about it that much.
It was a revelation to see Pamela's work...
with the moon, the stars, the arrows.. they all meant something to me, and it was at this moment that i decided to wear jewelry.
As a way to express my love to the symbolic they have, and to have with me a little bit of the people i love!
I buy a lot of them myself but sometimes i like them as present.
I never take of my rings and my bangles, they really are a part of me.

So, i'm really curious about you, what do you think about jewelry? Do you wear any? Do you have any designers that you love?

Have a magical day!

Hello

I'm Mathilde, a french gal, very found of Frida Kahlo, jewelry and vintage!
I decided to share my love for this because i could not find as much inspiration as i needed on this subjects!
I'm so curious about things like cosmology, readings, stones, nature and mysticism.
I studied anthropology, fashion history and sociology and the way people adorned themselves is fascinating to me. Their beliefs, their way of seeing life, it all seems so particular and full of magic.
I do think that we need muses in our life to feel empowered.
